There is & There are – Angielski od podstaw
Styczeń 30, 2023 Agata Pruszyńska
W ostatnim wpisie na blogu z serii Angielski od podstaw omawiałam szczegółowo zaimki wskazujące – this, that, these, those. Dzisiaj z kolei przechodzę do pokrewnego tematu, a mianowicie konstrukcji there is / there are.
Konstrukcję there is / there are stosujemy, gdy chcemy powiedzieć, że jakaś rzecz lub osoba gdzieś się znajduje. Używamy jej do opisu miejsc lub pomieszczeń. ‘There is’ stosujemy do liczby pojedynczej, z kolei ‘there are’ stosujemy do liczby mnogiej.
Poniżej przedstawiam konstrukcję there is / there are w:
-
zdaniach twierdzących,
-
pytaniach,
-
przeczeniach.
Po części teoretycznej zapraszam na ćwiczenia, które dla Was przygotowałam. Znajdziecie je tutaj – There is & There are – Ćwiczenia.
1. Zdania twierdzące
THERE IS THERE ARE
There is a plate on the table. There are plates on the table.
(Na stole jest / znajduje się talerz.) (Na stole są / znajdują się talerze.)
There is a sandwich on the plate. There are sandwiches on the plate.
(Na talerzu jest / znajduje się kanapka.) (Na talerzu są / znajdują się kanapki.)
There is a tree in the garden. There are trees in the garden.
(W ogrodzie jest / znajduje się drzewo.) (W ogrodzie są / znajdują się drzewa.)
There is a student in the classroom. There are students in the classroom.
(W klasie jest / znajduje się uczeń.) (W klasie są / znajdują się uczniowie.)
There is a hospital in my town. There are hospitals in my town.
(W moim mieście jest / znajduje się szpital.) (W moim mieście są / znajdują się szpitale.)
There is a cinema in my town. There are cinemas in my town.
(W moim mieście jest / znajduje się kino.) (W moim mieście są / znajdują się kina.)
2. Pytania
Pytania z konstrukcją ‘there is / there are’ tworzymy przez tzw. inwersję, czyli zamieniamy kolejnością czasownik ‘is / are’ ze słowem ‘there’:
Is there a plate on the table? Are there plates on the table?
Is there a sandwich on the plate? Are there sandwiches on the plate?
Is there a tree in the garden? Are there trees in the garden?
Is there a student in the classroom? Are there students in the classroom?
Is there a hospital in your town? Are there hospitals in your town?
Is there a cinema in your town? Are there cinemas in your town?
3. Przeczenia
W zdaniach przeczących stosujemy słówko ‘not’:
There isn’t (= is not) a plate on the table. There aren’t (= are not) plates on the table.
There isn’t (= is not) a sandwich on the plate. There aren’t sandwiches on the plate.
There isn’t (= is not) a tree in the garden. There aren’t (= are not) trees in the garden.
There isn’t (= is not) a student in the classroom. There aren’t students in the classroom.
There isn’t (= is not) a hospital in my town. There aren’t (= are not) hospitals in my town.
There isn’t (= is not) a cinema in my town. There aren’t (= are not) cinemas in my town.
Mam nadzieję, że po dzisiejszy wpis był dla Was pomocny w nauce konstrukcji there is / there are.
