Proverbs and proverbial expressions
Lipiec 8, 2017 Agata Pruszyńska
Proverbs are often used in everyday conversations and life without them would be boring and monotonous. In English, as in Polish, we’ve got many different proverbs. Some of them have the same meaning. We use proverbs to give advice, warning or to comment on a particular situation. They’re very precise and easy to remember. Proverbs enrich the ways of expressing ourselves. Some of them can be understood literally, others have metaphorical meaning. There are many proverbs, so today we present and illustrate only ten most common. We also try to explain their meaning.
